A video piece that Sizhu talks to her wave.
Technology has given us incredible tools for creation, but it also fails often. When mechanical or coding issues interrupt my art-making, especially when they stop my wave from rolling—I feel a sharp frustration that’s hard to reconcile. This video piece came from that feeling. It became a way for me to confront the breakdown, not just as a technical glitch, but as something deeply personal.
These moments of failure reflect something larger: our growing dependence on systems we’ve built but can’t always control. Through this work, I’m asking—what happens when things fall apart? Can we still find presence, meaning, or connection?
In the performance, I respond to the three metal waves as if they were alive —speaking to them, mimicking their movements, and following their lead. The piece becomes a conversation between myself and this work, where I explore vulnerability and try to face the imperfect, fragile nature of creation itself.
